Become a Route Checker

Checking a route in Birmingham

Are you the kind of person that loves exploring new areas? By volunteering to help check walking routes you’ll be sharing that feeling of exploration with our participants, many of whom simply don’t know where to go walking in their local area.

Route Checkers try out, assess and report back on short urban walking routes in our five project areas. The routes aim to introduce people to walking by showing them the hidden gems in their area, the park they didn’t know existed, a quick way to the shops or the way to walk their children to school. Checking these routes is essential to make sure they’re safe for everyone to enjoy!

Get Walking Keep Walking is a project aimed at people from urban areas who aren’t already active enough for good health. It works to support people walking independently and also signposts them towards other community activity and health promotion programmes such as health walks and local led walks.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided. You can find out more details about the role, the tasks involved and how to apply below.
